SmartLiving 360 to Present at 20th Anniversary Encore Summit

Ryan Frederick to Speak on Building More Age-Integrated Communities

Baltimore, Md. (November 12, 2018) – Ryan Frederick of SmartLiving 360 will speak at the 20th anniversary of the Summit. The Encore Summit is on Tuesday, November 13th and Wednesday, November 14th at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel.

The conference program includes a set of “hot topics”, including one on “Ending Age Segregation”. Donna Butts, CEO of Generations United, will facilitate this session. Mr. Frederick will speak specifically to the opportunity to build more age-integrated communities. “It is time for us to move on from age-segregation,” says Frederick. “There are ample opportunities in real estate development and in modifying existing buildings to make our built environment work for people of all ages and help build a sense of connection at the same time.”

In his talk, Mr. Frederick will talk about lessons from The Stories at Congressional Plaza, an innovative intergenerational apartment building in a walkable, mixed-use area of Rockville, MD, a suburb of Washington D.C. The Stories was developed in conjunction with SmartLiving 360 and Federal Realty Investment Trust.

Collaboration with SmartLiving 360 Releases Customer Journey Map

AgingWell Hub Creates Ground-Breaking Work To Re-Imagine Living Environments of the Future

Baltimore, Md. (September 15, 2018) AgingWell Hub released a Customer Journey Map based on the perceived prototypical needs of middle-income single woman in her 70s. AgingWell Hub, co-founded with Philips, is a cross-sector collaborative of the Global Social Enterprise Initiative (GSEI) at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. SmartLiving 360 is one of the collaborative partners and worked specifically on this effort.

This deliverable outlined a forward-looking experience map of choices for Boomers with a particular focus on the opportunity to re-imagine the living environments of the future.

“One of the challenges with today’s options for housing for older adults is that they don’t adequately consider likely changes in consumer preferences as well incremental changes or new approaches,” says Frederick. “This is the first effort of its kind to use design thinking principles to map out a customer journey to identify gaps and options for new solutions.”

The work is available for free download at the Efforts on currently underway to raise funds to create the next iteration of the customer journey map.
